IN SEARCH OF HAPPINESS
Spiritual Tour
8 days journey package
Season: June/July
8-12 Participant maximum
Bhutan is the only Himalayan kingdom guided by the philosophy of Gross National Happiness, which seeks a balance between spiritualism and materialism. “In search of Happiness” is a special tour, only organized once a year with a small group of travelers.
This unique program allows you to interact with scholars, knowledgeable monks and government policy makers on how to adopt balance between external and internal comforts. The traveler will be able to have a dialogue on important topics such as ‘Gross National Happiness’ and how to live a happy and content life. The tour also seeks a balance between external and internal comforts through contemplation, pilgrimages, meditations, spectacular sightseeing, hiking through peaceful nature and enjoying time in rural communities and monasteries. This tour is mindfully crafted to experience and observe, relax and unwind, and to learn how to live a happy life from the people and country where Happiness is a Place.
As one of the last strongholds of Vajrayana Buddhism, meditation retreats are a common practice among monks and Buddhist practitioners in Bhutan. Small retreat centers and hermitages are located all over the country, usually next to temples, monasteries and monastic schools.
This particular tour includes engaging in meditation programs for a few hours in the high hills and temples where the serenity and beauty of nature can be appreciated in undisturbed silence. The tour also comprises other holy activities such as the hanging of prayer flags on mountain passes, cleansing ceremonies and wellness prayers performed by Buddhist masters for the particular group. This tour will also take you off the beaten path to some of Bhutans holiest places.
